Service Roads
From 2017 to 2021, my time at the University of Texas at Dallas often required me to design posters or create presentations to pass several of my courses. For a class in screenprinting, I had to generate my own poster design, which I would then produce myself in a fully stocked screenprinting facility.
Screenprinting “Service Roads”
I was asked to create a design using three or more colors; I chose to satirize my own habit of taking free roads over toll roads by creating a collage poster of a motorcyclist stopping at a red light, utilizing zine-style imagery and Western-style typography to convey a conflict between convenience and economy. I then cured this design, split per color, onto a mesh screen to create multicolor screenprints.

Shown below is the preplanning for the final result, including the color separation, notes taken, and previous design ideas.
